Dude, srsly, this elf is BAD!

HA! Not only is this beer Banned In Bama, but it’s also banned in Connecticut. Something about Santa being on the label tempting minors or somesuch nonsense.

Shelton Brothers (importers of Seriously Bad Elf)

Stay tuned for big news about beer education classes in Auburn. Tell your friends and family…well, tell them when we get it sorted.

I mix it up with a classic example (according to the BJCP) of the Baltic Porter style.
And for those of you who were curious as to how to properly spell my poor attempt at a Russian surname and a beer by the same name, it’s Sinebrychoff Porter. It’s a Finnish beer named after a Russian immigrant.

We regain focus in this episode (har!) and try a beer I didn’t think I could get my hands on. Also, we actually talk about what’s going down in the legislative session that’s just kicked off in Montgomery.

Ridgeway’s Importer (They don’t have a website. How 1990’s of them!)

2010 Alabama Homebrewing Bill Full Text(Thanks John Little.)

I talked about several goals for Free The Hops in 2010, but I couldn’t name them in the episode. Here they are from the FTH blog:

1. There’s no more “brewpubs” and “distributing breweries” as legal distinctions. If your business is licensed to make beer, it’s simply a “brewery.”
2. A brewery can sell beer at the brewery (at a tap room or brewpub) and/or sell it through a wholesaler to other bars, restaurants, and stores
3. Breweries are specifically allowed to have tours and to participate at beer festivals

I know there were some folks to blew up a TV with guns and ruined “Who Dat!” for the rest of us, but I’m moved to say it. WHO DAT! Or as my Francophonic cousine would say “Qui Ca?”

We get stuck into Abita Andygator in this episode and “rah rah” the Saints.

Abita Beers

Yeah I realize now that it’s blurry. Sorry about that.

We review an imperial IPA from the kings of Munster, IN. Also one of my favorite one-liners of all time.

Three Floyds Brewery

Head down this week for a big hairy deal on Sunday (more on that after the fact). New episodes might be delayed.

I found this one in the back of the stacks of wax if you will. I’m going to start linking to the breweries from now on. Your thoughts?

Backroad Brewery

You guys missed the awesome snow! I was really excited to get out in it since our snow just looks like what you knock out of the freezer when you defrost it. Fluffy, white, good times! If you’re so inclined, you can find my snow movies on Viddler.

Snow Tour

Deeeeelish. See me talk about a special release Christmas beer (I thought Christmas was over?) and drone on about snow, Indiana, and hotel rooms.

In this episode of Banned In Bama, I learn how to use the video camera… and that two parallel green bars on the camera display means it is NOT recording. We also check out Rogue’s Hazelnut Brown Nectar.

Here’s a teaser for the next few episodes. I’ll be examining some beers from three dudes with the same first name. Any guesses? Leave them in the comments.

And now for something completely different. I tried to saber a champagne bottle on New Year’s Eve. Here’s the footage.

Kind of anti-climatic I’ll admit. Brian (@bbille), Beau (@hubsfalgout), and Anne (@annefalgout) all got it on the first try. Here’s footage of how to do it properly.

Traveling this week, so no shows, but expect some awesomeness next week. 2010 will be HUGE!
